Mega Squirt: Fully Loaded is exactly that, fully loaded with talent, ridiculousness, exceptional vocals and some of the freshest musical comedy you’ll find at Fringe.

Drew and Ashley are a powerhouse duo who take the audience on a musical, comedic, singing and dancing journey that refuses to sit neatly inside any one genre. Part concert, part sketch comedy, part musical theatre and part queer fever dream, this hybrid show feels genuinely new. I’ve never seen anything quite like it.

There’s rap. There are ballads. There are huge vocals. There’s camp, silliness and an endless stream of queer modernisms woven through both the music and spoken comedy. Songs such as She-Theys at the Bakery give you a pretty good indication of the territory we’re playing in, and yes, it’s as gloriously ridiculous as it sounds.

What elevates Fully Loaded beyond a collection of funny songs and sketches is the writing. The script is exceptional, evident not only in the spoken sections but throughout the lyrics. There is a clear story thread connecting the madness, and what initially appears unpredictable and chaotic is actually incredibly well constructed.

Drew and Ashley tackle modern themes through an unapologetically queer lens, constantly surprising the audience with where they go next. You’re laughing one minute, listening to an incredible ballad the next and, before long, practically singing and dancing along with them.

Then comes a brilliant full-circle moment that ties the entire journey together.

I genuinely wouldn’t change a thing.

Mega Squirt: Fully Loaded is clever, contemporary, camp, musically brilliant and completely unpredictable. A must-see.
