Puss Puss ★★★★
Puss Puss has you from the moment it begins. Cat energy is immediately unleashed into the room, and what follows is clowning at its finest: silly, unpredictable, wonderfully strange and completely committed.
This solo performer barely needs words. Their face tells the story with perfection, with every glance, twitch and expression communicating exactly what this peculiar feline is thinking. Like the perfect cat, they quickly decide that the entire theatre belongs to them — the stage, the audience, the aisles and seemingly anything else they can get their paws on.
Even latecomers receive their own little piece of unexpected amazement as they enter, proving that absolutely nothing in the room is safe from becoming part of the performance.
What makes Puss Puss work so beautifully is the connection created between performer and audience. Before long, the room becomes compassionate, loving and genuinely invested in the fate of this cat. Beneath all the ridiculousness and impeccable physical comedy, there is an unexpected sweetness that gives the clowning real heart.
It is unique, gloriously silly and almost impossible to predict. With little to no dialogue, Puss Puss proves it simply doesn’t need it; movement, expression and expertly controlled chaos say everything.
If you’re a cat lover, you’re going to adore this show. If you’re not, but you want a brilliantly fun Fringe night and a good, hearty laugh, Puss Puss still has plenty of treats waiting for you.
This is exactly the kind of wonderfully bizarre experience Fringe was made for. Get your paws on a ticket.
